Team Totals
"Team Totals" will take the net score of the team matched against the net score of the opponent per hole for a certain number of points.
Team Totals Handicap Options (Setting #83)
You have four options with team totals for handicaps:
- Difference in the team's handicap total - If team 1's total handicap was 20, and team 2's total handicap is 25, team 2 will get 5 strokes, or 1 stroke on the 5 lowest handicapped holes, after totaling the player's actual (gross) scores. This is the suggested method of handicapping team totals and results in the team getting strokes on the hardest holes, and strokes will be spread out more.
- Use the player's full handicaps - A player who is a 5 handicap will get a shot on the 5 lowest handicapped holes, regardless of the handicaps of the other players. The downside of this method is that a team effectively won't get the strokes on the hardest holes.
- Handicap off the low player in the foursome - If the lowest player in the foursome is a 3 handicap, everybody else will have 3 strokes deducted from their handicap, and the 3 handicap will play to a 0.
- Base the handicap on the difference of players in the same flight - If the "A" player on team 1 is a 5 handicap, and the "A" player on team 2 is a 8 handicap, the "A" player on team 2 would receive 3 strokes, and the "A" player on team 1 would receive 0 strokes. The same would apply to the "B" flight. This is not a very common way to handicap this format, and is usually only used when combined with individual match play.
