Setting Maximum Handicaps

When using the course Rating/Slope for Your Handicap Calculation

When using the rating/slope for your handicap, your "Handicap Index" is converted to a "Course Handicap" based on the tee box you're assigned to.  See this article for more information on the difference between handicap index and course handicap: Difference between Handicap Index and Course Handicap.

Because of that, Golf League Tracker supports setting a maximum amount for either your Handicap Index, or for the Course Handicap.

  • If you want to follow the USGA guidelines, the maximum is applied to the player's Maximum Handicap Index (setting #36).
  • However you do have the option of setting the Maximum Course Handicap (setting #198).

If you set the maximum for the handicap index it means that a player's Course Handicap could exceed the maximum handicap index amount, depending on the course rating, slope and par of the tee box the player is playing.

When Using Par for Your Handicap Calculation

When using Par for your handicap calculation, there is no difference between a player's handicap index and course handicap, therefore these two settings have the same effect on the player's maximum handicap.
